#P90X Days 48 & 49: A recap

DAY 48: Legs & Back

Legs & Back was good. This time I used resistance bands instead of my Iron Gym. It was quite a difference. Each pullup, even with all three bands in use, was easier than using the Iron Gym, but I was able to hold each movement at the top (or bottom, as the case may be) and I was able to aggressively work the middle muscles in my back moreso than I ever have before. In that light, I’m considering alternating between Iron Gym and Resistance Bands for pullups through the remainder of P90X.

All my numbers were solid for this Legs & Back journey. Today, my legs are the usual amount of CRAZY sore, but I love that. It screams “job well done” to my brain.

ABX was pretty solid. I’m getting better and better little by little on keeping my arms in the air and having good form for the first three moves. Rocked out 70 Mason Twists. I keep pushing em out faster and faster. I love it.

DAY 49: Rest

I chose to rest this morning because…well….I just wanted to sleep next to my wife a bit longer than I normally do. This afternoon marks the beginning of a mini vacation we’re taking and after last night’s “Date Night” I was just wanting to be close with her. Is that so wrong? I think not.

Anyway, I will probably do some stretching on my own later tonight before bed. It always just feels good to do so.

With today, Recovery Week begins and then…….PHASE 3! Can’t wait. Looking ahead, the schedule seems BUH-RUTAL, and I cannot wait to see what gains are in store. During this next phase I’ll also be training (mildly) for a 10k fund-raising run on April 17th. It’s a 10k, so it’s nothing insane, but I’ll probably do a few weekend runs and some interval sprints throughout the week (in addition to P90x), to remind my legs what they’re for.

Here’s hoping I’ll see a difference in my running with all this Plyo business! :)

~cheers~
