Day 19: Legs & Back

He totally shaved his legs for this.
Well, g’day to ya, mates! Don’t know why I went Australian on you, but I did. So there.
But I digress. You’ll notice that both this post and the previous one speak of the days workouts in the past tense, and that’s because I”m writing these on the following Monday. This weekend was a Valentine’s Weekend for my wife and I and thought she worked out with my on BOTH Saturday and Sunday (she’s amazing, btw), the romance just kept me away from the computer. Surprise surprise for newlywed, right? We’ve been married 9 months and we just can’t get enough of hanging out with one another.
So we did the workout in the early evening yesterday, before our big date. My diet both Saturday and Sunday was pretty random. Not awful, but just…off. I ate a LOT of protein, so I was ok with most of what I ate.
The Legs & Back workout is easily becoming one of my favorites. As you read in the previous post, I was pretty sore from Plyo when I did Yoga, and doing Legs & Back didn’t do anything to help that. However, my legs held up! The wall sits, as usual when I’m already sore, were brutal.
Last time I did L&B, I didn’t use any weight on the squats and lunges. This time, I had 10lb weights in each hand for all but the deadlift squats, 3-way lunges, toe-rolls and the 80/20′s. I wanted to see what my legs could do, and they responded with great results. I was able to keep up with Tony & Co. and really feel the burn. Today….shoo buddy! Feelin’ it!
Pullup-wise, I’ve reverted to what I like to call “Hard Chair”. I use the chair nearly exclusively, but I’ve discovered a way to use the chair that makes it extremely tough and is very close to the tension used with full-on pullups. I can tell that my back is getting stronger and I’m eager to see what my back can do next time around.
Last night’s Ab Ripper X was just so-so. As usual, I started out weak and finished strong. Those first three sets get me. This time, however, I was really pumped that I could do no-touches on the V-Up Rollups! At least I could for that last few of each leg.
