P90X Day 12: Legs & Back

Legs & Back: Tough as balls.
Good Monday Morning to you all!
Is it strange that I’m all about the mornings? Monday is no exception!
Yesterday I had no choice but to take it as my “Rest Day”, instead of today. Left the house at 8:45 am and didn’t get any time for a workout at all before I went to bed.
However, this is the time where I brag on my incredibly beautiful and amazing wife! She’s been wrestling with a sinus infection for weeks now, and even though she’s starting to see some relief, she’s focused on getting 100% better before she dives back into P90X. I asked her last night if she would be ok with me doing Legs & Back this morning at 5am and she was totally cool with it! What I love so much about Pandia is that she recognizes how fitness has become a part of who I am. It’s therapy for my mind, it’s exercise for my body, and it is something I both want and need on a regular basis.
The reason I wanted to get her ok on it is that in order for me to do the back workouts o P90X, I have to use the bedroom door frame as it is the only one that I can use my pullup bar on. So, she let me do that while she slept. She’s amazing.
And now…on to the topic at hand: Legs & Back!
So, last week, due to time constraints I ended up skipping this workout all together. So this morning was my first go around with Legs & Back. It was another great set of exercises that really got my muscles alive and awake. I enjoyed how it was essentially 24 different exercises with one break in the middle. I was disappointed that I didn’t know beforehand that free weights would be what I needed this time rather than the bands. The bands were rarely used in this one.
I’ve always had some pretty muscular, strong legs. Whether it was from genetics or what, it’s just always been that way. This workout was really unique in that many of the lunges and squats we did were at the very least juuuuust a little bit different than what I was used to, and the fact that we were rocking out 20-25 reps really pushed my legs to the limit! Really good stuff. I felt the burn and I’m really looking forward to busting through my numbers next time around.
Can I just say that the toughest thing on this workout for me (which is a surprise to me) were the wall sits. Both of them. Just brutal. During the fit test at the beginning of this whole thing, I was able to do minutes. Minutes, people! I imagine if I did em cold it would have been different, but jeez. Even 90 seconds was tough.
My diet today has been and will continue to be flawless. Last night’s Big Game party proved to be lethal. I grazed. I was a grazer. I tried to stick to what I like in the fruit and veggie trays, but the fact that they were smack dab in between deep dish pizza, barbeque and cheese dip……no es muy bueno.
Also, I skipped Ab Ripper X this morning. I plan on rocking out Kenpo X with my boy @thomasrye tonight. He gets Kenpo X AND Ab Ripper X.
We’re Bringin It!
TOTAL CALORIE BURN: 763
________________________________________________________
DAILY DIET:
Breakfast: Smoothie — 1/2 c. wild blueberries, 1/2 c. fat free yogurt, 1 tbsp flax seed, 1/2 tbsp natural peanut butter, 1/2 scoop Pure Protein.
Snack: Gala apple (the best!) w/ 2 tbsp natural peanut butter

Legs and Back is probably my fav workout! Wall squats ARE torture! Not going to lie, I cheated a little yesterday too during the game. But not enough to do any damage. I checked, I weighed the same this morning. Whew! lol
I like to do the core workout in the morning, then ab ripper x in the evening. I tend to ahve more energy and can get through more if I have that day long break in between.
I don’t mine legs and back day. The one workout I HATE because it takes so long is when you have to go back and forth for 2 minutes doing a slow set of lunges on your toes, pointing your arms back and up, and you repeat that for 2 minutes. UGH.
Ya, I really dug this workout too. It’s not as fun to be as Chest & Back is, or even Shoulders and Arms.
I bet next time around when i get some free weights involved, I’ll be singing a different tune!

Hey Nathan,
I appreciate the offer, but I’m not really ready to make that leap into being a coach. I might consider it after I complete the program.
